This NEW Introduction to Canine Hydrotherapy course is Part 1 of our Houston program for July 2025. The course includes online education and two attendance days with lectures, observation and hands-on practical training.
You may continue for a further three days with Part 2 covering canine gait and advanced underwater treadmill treatment and techniques.
Your pre-study is provided via Moodle, our online education platform. Practical training takes place at the fantastic K9 Health Centre in Houston where we have a long standing (over sixteen years) association with our training partner Sandra Wilson. She will be pleased to help with advice, travel information or any local queries – k9healthcenter.com

This course is suitable for anyone who would like to know more about canine hydrotherapy. This includes veterinary professionals plus those already working in canine hydrotherapy, who may not have formal training or qualifications, but would like to develop their knowledge and consider further study.
Houston is a great travel hub and both airports are only 25-30 minutes drive from K9 Health Centre.
There are only ten places available for these practical days so please register early to avoid disappointment.

This course is a blended learning course

- Two attendance days with lectures, observations and hands-on practical training.
Blended learning
We want you to be fully prepared so you gain the most from your practical training and we have provided a lot of online education material for you. Pre-study and successful completion of revision tests and quizzes is required prior to attendance for on-site practical training.
You should plan your study time carefully and allow a minimum of 8 weeks for study prior to attendance days. You should allow an average of 5-6 hours per week.
Attendance days
There are two required practical training attendance days at the K9 Health Centre, Houston
- Learn about safe handling techniques and hydrotherapy protocols
- Gold star practice
- Pre hydrotherapy health checks.
- Canine hydrotherapy pool observations and hands-on experience – you will join our canines in the pool
- You will observe and join in with water treadmill sessions.
- Feedback on your skills and areas for further study.
This is an introductory course and following completion you should not imply you are a qualified canine hydrotherapist. But you will gain useful skills and insights, including whether canine hydrotherapy is a possible career choice for you. You will also be well prepared for further or more in-depth canine hydrotherapy study.

Course Entry Requirements
It is the student’s own responsibility to make themselves aware of the entry requirements prior to completing the booking/registration form.
For this course you do not need prior experience or any animal care/veterinary qualifications but you should be physically fit and confident handling dogs. Please make us aware when you register if you have any physical or educational needs or disabilities.

FOR COURSES OUTSIDE THE UK THE FULL BALANCE OF FEES MUST BE PAID AT LEAST 12 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR COURSE ATTENDANCE DATE.
Failure to pay in full and on time will result in cancellation of your attendance course and no refund will be due.

Access To Our Online Training Platform
Access to online training materials (lectures, revision tests, assignments, worksheets, etc) is granted for 12 months from the date you register and pay for your course.
Cancellation Policy
We incur significant costs to deliver an overseas course – non-refundable flights and accommodation, plus lecturers are booked many months ahead.
Cancellations made more than 90 days before the practical training course start date – 75% refund of fees paid.
Cancellations made less than 90 days before the practical training course start date – no refund due.
If this course is cancelled by Greyfriars International Training, due to unforeseen circumstances, delegates will be given the choice of an alternative date or a full refund.
